The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall met with the President of Italy in Rome today as the Italy leg of the Royal tour came to an end.

Their Royal Highnesses sat down with President Mattarella at Quirinal Palace, before The Prince joined the Prime Minister of Italy, Paolo Gentiloni, for a bilateral meeting.

His Royal Highness was then welcomed to the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (UNFAO) offices in Rome to hear about their work and meet practitioners and experts who are working on solving the East Africa Famine.

After being greeted by Jose Graziano da Silva, the Director General, His Royal Highness received a tour of the building and met staff.

The Prince praised British aid workers for their famine relief efforts in Somalia during a video link-up at UNFAO which saw His Royal Highness briefed on the crisis in the Horn of Africa by the UNFAO's representative in Somalia, Richard Trenchard.

The Prince said: "I am immensely proud of Britain's response and its contribution."

Their Royal Highnesses departed Rome in the afternoon to travel to Vienna for the two-day Royal visit.
