Their Royal Highnesses visit the Sandringham Flower Show

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall made their annual visit to the Sandringham Flower Show in Norfolk today.

The show, which takes place in Sandringham Park with Sandringham House and Sandringham Church as a backdrop, attracts around 20,000 visitors each year.

Their Royal Highnesses toured the show ground and visited tents and stalls including the Royal Marquees which house competitions in vegetables, fruit, flowers and floral art. The Prince and The Duchess greeted stall holders, including members of the Women’s Institute, and bought some cheese scones and fruit cake.

Many of the East Anglia's leading nurseries and horticultural specialists exhibit at the show and it features display gardens by leading designers and around 200 trade stands.

The Duchess visited the National Osteoporosis Society stall to meet staff and volunteers. Her Royal Highness has been President of the charity since 2001.

The Prince of Wales also took time to inspect the Army Air Corps apprentices at the end of the show. His Royal Highness is Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment who have just celebrated their 60th Anniversary.

The profits from each show are donated to local charities and since 1977 the Show Committee has given around £760,000 to good causes.
